How to Legally get Married in Oklahoma

Congratulations on your engagement! If you’re planning to get married in Oklahoma, there are a few things you’ll need to know before you book your venue and your AMAZING Wedding DJ! 😂

First, you’ll need to obtain a marriage license from the county court clerk’s office. Both you and your partner will need to appear in person and bring a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. You’ll also need to know the date of your wedding, the name of the person performing the ceremony, and the location of the ceremony. There is a three-day waiting period in Oklahoma, so you’ll need to apply for your license at least three days before your wedding.

Next, you’ll need to find an officiant to perform the ceremony. In Oklahoma, this can be a judge, a justice of the peace, or a minister who is registered with the county court clerk’s office. The officiant will need to sign the marriage license after the ceremony and return it to the court clerk’s office to be filed. We suggest the following based of past experiences with working with them.

If you would like more suggestions of other officiants in the OKC area please give us a call!

It’s also a good idea to make sure your ceremony is legal by having at least two witnesses present. These witnesses must be at least 18 years old and must sign the marriage license after the ceremony.

Finally, don’t forget to plan the rest of your wedding, including the venue, catering, flowers, and Wedding DJ. With a little bit of planning, you can have a beautiful and memorable wedding in Oklahoma.

I hope this helps you plan your special day. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and love!
